ABOUT

Fourth Dimension is a

“Design Studio I Research Institute”

and an “evidence-based practice”

underpinned by the

“use of current best evidence from research and practice

in making critical decisions about each unique and individual project”

[Hamilton and Watkins 2009]

----------------------------------------

The “scholarly practitioners” in this evidence-based practice

mediate between professional practice

and the universe of scholarly, scientific,

and academic knowledge and discourse”

[Bentz and Shapiro 1998]

----------------------------------------

The above two discourses underpin

Fourth Dimension’s

engagement and approach to practice

as a “laboratory” for generating empirical evidence-based knowledge

collaborating and communicating with educators and students
and implementing projects

that improve the outcomes of

‘coupled human‐natural systems’,

including blue-green and social infrastructure.
